Conference Championships

Just a few thoughts this week from last weeks games before I get into this weeks.

Colts VS Ravens
  • Wow how many bad playoff games can Manning have? I'm setting the over/under at 1000. I really don't know what it is but it definitely is eerie. Other than when he plays the Broncos he's a disaster. This isn't new either, he never won the big game at Tennessee and the year after he left they went undefeated and won the National Championship with Tee Martin at QB (yes Tee Martin). I'm not sure on this but I'm guessing he didn't win his State championship in high school either
  • How exciting is it to watch Ed Reed? This guy is just all over the field. I remember when he came out of Miami he didn't have the great measurables and slipped to the late part of the first round but his ball skills are incredible. He nearly picked off Manning four times and that one pick where he lateraled it while falling out of bounds. How could they whistle that play dead? Reed's a playmaker and one of my top three favorite defensive players to watch.

Eagles VS Saints

  • Enough about Reggie Bush, Deuce is the better back and he showed that last week, give him more air time discussion
  • Next year when McNabb's is back the Eagles need to realize that it's now Westbrook's team. That's the only way they're going to progress as a team.

Chargers VS Patriots

  • This game only adds to my resentment for the Patriots and Enemy number one is now Vrabel taking the spot away from Brady who took the spot from Bruschi. I'm pretty sure this guys favorite thing is to rip off the celebration of other teams. From TO when he was with the Eagles to Merriman. I really shouldn't get this upset about someone I've never met.
  • Once again the stars align perfectly for the Pats to win. Bad gameplan by the Chargers (not giving LT the ball enough), Improbable plays (the interception followed by the strip) and bad coaching moves (Challenging that play and waisting a timeout)
  • If the purpose NFL games was to underthrow receivers Tom Brady would be the MVP.

Seahawks VS Bears

  • Just leave it to Grossman (a Florida Gator) to get the job done.

On to the picks (last week 1-3 overall 4-4) (Home team in bold)

Saints VS Bears (-2.5)

Winner: Saints

There's no way the Bears defence can contend with all of Brees' weapons. Last week they give up 24 points to a struggling hawks team. Unless Grossman makes it rain two weeks in a row bye bye Bears.

Patriots VS Colts (-3)

Winner: Patriots

For the reasons listed above. The only solace I can take is that the Patriots have four Florida Gator WR including the dynamic duo of Gaffney and Caldwell who along with Grossman as QB was a better team than the current National championship team. I realize this has nothing to do with anything but I hate writing positive things about the Pats.
